The second is that solvent inks require additional spray powders to aid in drying. Because they are absorbed into the paper, colors can become diluted and less bright. Drying can add days to each job according to the papers character and weight. While, VU inks dry through a photomechanical process. When the inks are exposed to ultraviolet light during printing, they immediately change from a liquid to a solid, with almost no solvent evaporation and no ink absorption into the paper. So you can print on virtually whatever you want when using UV inks! Of course, because UV inks dry on contact, they never get dirty . And that means, no matter what type of paper you use, you never need to add expensive coatings to prevent stains and erasers.
